Use Case and Project Goal
This page explains the business and learning purpose of the project.
Use Case
A network engineer wants to learn cloud-native infrastructure by transforming one Ubuntu VPS into a platform that hosts many applications from one public IP. The platform should later support a company website, APIs, firewall/NGFW portal, documentation, customer login, downloads, ERP and monitoring.
Problem Being Solved
One Public IP
Most small VPS servers have one IPv4 address. The project shows how many websites and services can share it.
Real Operations
Instead of static notes, the VPS runs Docker, Nginx, monitoring and a live dashboard.
Future Products
The foundation can later host real products without redesigning the infrastructure.
Final Target
User -> Domain or Public IP -> Nginx HTTPS -> Docker apps today
-> Kubernetes Ingress later
-> Monitoring and dashboard visibilityLearning Outcomes
- Understand containerized deployment with Docker.
- Understand how Nginx reverse proxy routes traffic.
- Understand how DNS makes many domains share one IP.
- Understand SSL certificate flow.
- Understand Kubernetes objects and traffic routing.
- Understand metrics collection with Prometheus and Grafana.
